Spent a couple of hours paddling into an inlet to the Erie Canal in Macedon, NY. I had hiked up to this waterway a number of times, and always wanted to explore it by kayak. It was a fun trip, that would only be possible by kayak, canoe, or something similar. Lots of downed trees, that required some creative navigation.

I saw a number of green heron. Funny thing, I never saw/noticed green heron until earlier this year, and now I see them often.

I saw a nice dock, and asked the dock master about tying up for a bit. He said he has a strict 3-fish charge for tying up, with “no exceptions!”. His stern gaze told me he was serious, and I didn’t have the dock fee, so I paddled on….

On the way back, I encountered a herd of horses out to pasture by the creek. The horses have easy access to the creek, which would have been quite a surprise if I rounded the corner and found horses in the water.

…and, no paddle would be complete without a few painted turtle pictures.

I put together a short video with clips from my action camera. My main take-away after watching it is that this creek would have been filled with alligator if it were in Florida.
