The Horizon Hill Trail is part of Perinton’s Crescent Trail system. It is a beautiful forest trail, with lots of elevation changes – probably a nice, local trail for anyone gearing up for Adirondack, or other longer hikes.

I do my best to capture the beauty of the trail, but I continue to feel like pictures don’t do the scenery justice. I just have to trust that my fellow hikers get it. 🌲 🌳

At the top of the hill, you come to the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa. There are decent views of Perinton, Fishers, and the Rochester city skyline from here.

On the way down, we took the red trail, which I recently discovered is not technically part of the Crescent Trail System. The Crescent Trail Hiking Association has 2 easements with property owners for the Red Trail, which also runs along land owned by NY state. Along the red trail, we saw a lot of stones piled along the red trail, culminating in a pretty, and peaceful spot labeled “Wendy’s Well”. The builder of Wendy’s Well is a currently a mystery – if anyone has any back-story, please let me know….and, in the meantime, I am assuming it was built by animated woodland creatures 🐦 🐢 🐇, or The Blair Witch. 👻

My dog, Mocha. She is a sweetheart, and I love hiking with her….although, I see a lot less wildlife when she is hiking with me. 🐶 🐕

The entire round-trip ended up being just over 2 and 1/2 miles. The MapMyRun app said we had a total elevation gain of 400 feet…but, it felt like a lot more than that. Perhaps due to a lot of up and down in the beginning…lol…or perhaps I am out of shape. 😥
