About

Hello – thanks for checking out Hike, Kayak, Fish! I started this site to share outdoor adventures, wildlife photographs, and to serve as a place for nature enthusiasts to celebrate being outside. I don’t consider myself an expert in photography, hiking, kayaking, or fishing….but I have always known that I feel most connected to the universe when I’m doing something outside….and, outdoor people are my favorite people.

I grew up on Long Island, where I spent my summers mostly on Fire Island, and also fishing and swimming in the Long Island Sound. Went to college at SUNY Fredonia in Chautauqua county, lived in South Carolina for a couple of years, and now reside outside of Rochester, NY, with my wife, and our combined 5 kids. I have camped and traveled through a good chunk of New York State – but, there are still so many more potential adventures stoking my wanderlust.

I’ll be shaping this website, and figuring things out as I go. Please feel free to contact me with any feedback, questions, or suggestions!

Thanks for reading!

“There is something patronizing in the modern attitude to the way things were done in the past. It is common to encounter the notion that the degree to which the ancients were connected to the natural world indicates their lack of sophistication. This attitude reflects a peculiar modern illness. We consider our need to lead lives that leave no time for contempation of our physical environment as superior, but in doing so we often fail to recognize what has been lost.”Tristan Gooley, The Natural Navigator
