    Hike Kayak Fish
    Keymaster

Fished a pond/small lake in Ontario for a couple of hours this morning.  I looked, but didn’t see any fish on beds.  Still, all fish were caught within 15 feet of shore.

On my second cast, I caught a small largemouth on a Strike King creature bait, and jinxed myself by thinking it was going to be a super productive morning….

….but, since I thought I was going to catch a ton, things were quiet for a bit after that.  I continued with the creature bait, and fished a curly tail grub for a bit, before switching to curly tail worms with a 1/8 oz bullet weight.  Caught 4 more along the shore on the plastic worm.

Weird thing, my son struck out this morning, fishing some of the same baits as me.  He usually out-catches me….so, I’m left trying to figure out what could have been different about his presentation this morning.
