My son and I spent several days camping at Fair Haven, and fishing in Little Sodus Bay. We struck out fishing from our kayaks in the bay, after fishing the north-east section. We put in at the boat launch in Fair Haven, kayaked and fished down the eastern shore of the bay, then came back to fish along the pier at the north end. We fished mainly with vertical presentations – plastic worms, and creture baits on a weightless hook. Had a few bites, that felt more like pan fish than bass.
After fishing along the pier, we headed out to a barge that was sitting in the bay, and fished along that – also with no luck.
After putting our kayaks back on the racks, we decided to try fishing from foot on the pier, and finally caught a few fish. By this time, we were into late afternoon – so, not sure if the bite was cold until the sun got a little lower, of if the fish were holding closer to the pier than I would have guessed when fishing from kayak. All of the fish caught from the pier were on Senko worms.
