Pictures were taken on March 30, 2024 at Mendon Ponds Park, Monroe County, New York. All of the deer pictured here are bucks – you can just see the start of their new antler growth. Male white-tailed deer (bucks) shed their antlers each year, around February – as opposed to animals like big horn sheep who grow one set of horns their entire lives. I’ll try to do a couple of posts like this – to follow the antler growth throughout the year.
