    Hike Kayak Fish
    Keymaster

Rented a pontoon for a half-day from Trident Marine, from 2:00 until 7:00 PM.   Started at the south end of the lake, just north of the outside weed edge.  The wind was blowing out of the north, so we set up drifts starting north of the weed edge, drifting into the weeds.  The key spot was just outside the weed edge, in around 15 – 20 feet of water.   We tried spinner baits, crank baits, and soft  plastics – but, all of our fish were caught on plastic worms – either Power Bait 7″ worms, or 5″ Senkos.  Both were successful, but more fish were caught with the Power Bait worms – with a pegged 1/8 oz bullet weight.

After a few hours, we moved to the north end of the lake, and drifted south along the west shore.  It was more of the same, with fish caught in the outside weed edge, in around 15 FOW, all on plastic worms.

We boated around 2 dozen fish todal, all largemouth bass, except for a single smallmouth.   Trident was great to rent from.  We paid $130 for 5 hours with a 24′ pontoon boat.  It was already gassed up, and ready go….pretty nice to show up, and be on the water 5 minutes later, and equally nice to tie the boat up and walk away when we were done.

Here are some of the fish highlights.
