Went out with a buddy on Honeyoye this past Sunday morning. Launched his boat around 7 AM at the state launch at the south end. Caught my first fish about 15 minutes later. 🙂 Had a fabulous morning – probably catching 35 to 45 fish combined, I would guess. Nothing huge…honestly, I doubt I landed even a 2 lb bass….but was great to catch so many fishy.
My bass were all caught on either a Power Bait 7″ curly tailed worm, with a 1/8 oz bullet sinker, or a Rapala X-Rap 08. My buddy caught most of his fish on an in-line spinner – he also caught some monster bluegills on the spinner…lol…several times, I saw his rod bent over and thought he had a monster bass, only to see him pull up a huge bluegill a minute later. Most of the bass came from the oustide weed edge – deep enough where we could just barely see the tops of the weeds growing underneath. However, we also caught a number of fish along the shoreline.
Like I said, mostly bass, but was fun to have some bluegill, crappie, and rock bass mixed in as well. Here are a few pics – the bass shown are typical of the size we caught all morning.
